7/1/2016 - Day 5 of the institute: It is the last day and we have a very full schedule. We were busy finalizing our activity plans, printing resources and preparing for our presentations. All participants were expected to present their activity plans in a gallery walk. After some glitches in the printing of my plan, I was finally ready for my presentation. The 30-minutes gallery was attended by institute participants and LOC staff. I received lots of feedback and ideas to enhance and expand my project for which I was grateful. This will be the plan I bring back to my library for the students I will be working with, so it has to be great. While the gallery walk was the highlight of the week, it was also the mark of the end and this made us all a little sad. Impressive is not nearly strong enough to describe the activities my colleagues planned during this week. The level of professionalism and talent in the participants left me in awe. I'm not even sure I was worthy to be among them. I have run out of words to say about this institute and my fellow colleagues. But I want to say one last thing. If you ever have the opportunity to attend the Summer Teacher Institute at the Library of Congress - DO IT! With the exception of completing National Board Certification, this Institute has been the best professional development experience of my career. I want to thank the LOC staff leaders - Michael, Anne and Trey for making this the best week of PD in the history of PD! (I have a flair for the dramatic!) #LCTeachInst
